ST. PAUL, Minn.- The Macalester College women's basketball team fell at home to Carleton College, 71-68, in another close conference match up. The Scots are now 2-5 on the season and are 1-2 in conference.

In a game where each team traded baskets for most of the night, the Scots went into half-time just two points behind the Knights, 38-36, and had led Carleton by as much as four in the second quarter. The Scots were led by sophomore guard
Tyana Loiselle (Bloomer, Wis./Chippewa Falls) who scored 18 points, her season high.

Macalester came out hard in the third quarter and dominated in the paint, scoring 14 points, and held the lead at nine points near the end of the quarter. First year forward
Kaya Togneri (Ventura, Calif./Ventura) defended the glass for the Scots, with 8 rebounds in the game and four coming in the third quarter.

Going in to the fourth quarter with a nine-point lead, Macalester allowed the Knights back into the game as Carleton went on a 11-2 run. With the score tied at 59 with seven minutes to play, the two teams traded buckets till the buzzer. With 11 seconds left in the game, the Scots were down 71-68. Vivi Gregorich (Boulder, Colo./Boulder) was able to get two three pointers off with the help of an offensive rebound by first year guard
Katie Sowerby (Mill Valley, Calif./Ventura). However, the Scots were unable to tie the game up and lost to the Knights 71-68.

The Knights were led by Cece Leone who scored 22 points on the night.
