ST. PAUL, Minn.- The Macalester College women's basketball team lost at home to St. Catherine University, 72-67, in a tight conference match up. The Scots are now 2-6 on the season and are 1-3 in conference play.

The Scots started the game strong, leading by seven points in the first quarter. Macalester was led by first year guard
Justine Barraza (Burbank, Calif./Harvard-Westlake) who scored 18 points, a season high. Coming off the bench Barraza scored seven points in the slow-paced first half which ended 33-31, with Macalester up two points.

The score remained close through the third quarter which found the Scots, who were outshot 7-16, trailing 40-47. Macalester's offense was fueled by another young player, sophomore guard
Holly Hull (Overland Park, Kan./Blue Valley Northwest), who scored 16 points and totaled seven rebounds. And first year
Kayla Togneri (Ventura, Calif./Ventura) came off the bench to total three blocks, a season high.

Macalester however were unable to protect the glass on both ends of the court, allowing the Wildcats to score half their points in the paint, with 17 second chance points. The fourth quarter got away from the Scots as they trailed the entire time and were not able to close the gap. The Scots lost 72-67, in another close loss.

The Wildcats were led by Danica Cambrice who scored 30 points on the night.
