WINONA, Minn. – The Macalester College volleyball team lost to Saint Mary's University in four sets, 3-1. The Scots are now 5-16 on the season and 0-7 in the MIAC.
The Scots lost the first set narrowly 25-22 and came back to win the second set 25-23. The Scots closely lost the next two sets 25-19 and 25-19 to the Cardinals. Senior outside hitters
India Medaris (Napa, Calif./Justin Siena) and
Clara Baumann (Wausau, Wis./Wausau East) led the Scots in offense with 11 and 10 kills respectively. Baumann and first year
Abrielle Dillon (Brown Deer, Wis./ University School of Milwaukee) both had 14 digs and Medaris helped the Scots defense as well, tallying 11 digs. Junior setter
Emily Bowler (South Salem, N.Y./John Jay) created 13 assists, 124 on the year, to help the Scots in their narrow loss.
Next up for Macalester is a non-conference away match against North Central University on Oct. 14, beginning at 11:00 a.m. in Minneapolis, Minn.
