ST. PAUL, Minn. – The Macalester women's soccer team played Concordia College to a 1-1 tie in a MIAC game Saturday afternoon at Macalester Stadium. The result gives the Scots a 3-1-2 record overall, including a 0-1-1 mark in the conference. The Cobbers are now 0-3-3, 0-1-1 MIAC.
After a scoreless first half, Concordia's Alexandra Jones scored from 12 yards out on a pass from Emily Wendorff in the 52nd minute for a 1-0 Cobber lead. Macalester was able to come back and tie the game in the 68th minute. A long cross from the left by first year defender
Victoria Casarrubias (Boulder, Colo./Fairview) was deflected by a defender near the top of the penalty area. Senior midfielder
Rae Hohle (Aurora, Ill./Illinois Math & Science) collected the loose ball and blasted a shot into the left side of the goal.
Both teams had chances during the rest of regulation and through two overtime periods, but neither team was able to net the game-winner.
Junior goalkeeper
Rachel Wilson-King (Tucson, Ariz./St. Gregory College Prep) started for the Scots and made two saves in the first half. Junior goalkeeper
Emma Toomer (Leesburg, Va./Loudon County) played the final 65 minutes and also had two saves. Maddy Reed registered two saves in goal for Concordia.
Macalester plays a non-conference contest against UW-Stout on Tuesday, Sept. 20. The game starts at 7:30 p.m. at Macalester Stadium.
