ST. PAUL, Minn. – The Macalester College women's soccer team put together a solid effort in a 2-0 victory over UW-Stout Tuesday night at Macalester Stadium. The Scots, who were 0-1-1 in their past two games, improve to 4-1-2 overall. The Blue Devils are now 2-4-1.
Macalester struck in the 14th minute, when a cross from first year defender
Victoria Casarrubias (Boulder, Colo./Fairview) found senior forward
Natalie Prescott (Roscoe, Ill./Hononegah). Prescott fired a low shot that glanced off the far post and in for a 1-0 lead. The Scots maintained the upper hand and eventually scored an insurance goal in the second half. Junior forward
Bekka Ord (Juneau, Alaska/Juneau-Douglas) served the ball from the endline into the penalty area, where senior midfielder
Pia Mingkwan (Albany, Calif./Albany) knocked it in with her first touch in the 77th minute.
Junior goalkeeper
Emma Toomer (Leesburg, Va./Loudon County) started and made one save in the first half. Junior
Rachel Wilson-King (Tucson, Ariz./St. Gregory College Prep) played the second half and recorded two saves. Lynn Johnson registered seven saves in goal for UW-Stout, which was outshot, 17-7 in the game.
The Scots resume their conference schedule with a home game against Hamline on Friday, Sept. 23. Game time is set for 4:30 p.m. at Macalester Stadium.
