LAKE FOREST, Ill. – The Macalester College women's soccer team completed play at the ACM Soccer Showcase with a 9-0 victory over Lawrence University Saturday afternoon at Lake Forest College. The Scots improve to 3-0-1 on the season, while the Vikings fall to 0-3.
First year forward
Elizabeth Han (Seattle, Wash./Nathan Hale) scored two of the Scots' four goals in the first half, while seniors
Michaela McGonigle (Seattle, Wash./Holy Names Academy) and
Kara Komoto (Rice Lake, Wis./Rice Lake) also scored in the first 45 minutes. In the second half, junior midfielder
Eliza Neidhart (Fitchburg, Wis./Oregon) and first year midfielder
Quinn Rafferty (La Mesa, Calif./Valhalla) each scored twice. Sophomore defender
Mia Stripp (Eugene, Ore./South Eugene) also found the net, while first year defender
Victoria Casarrubias (Boulder, Colo./Fairview) had two assists.
Sophomore goalkeeper
Rachel Stromsta (Chicago, Ill./Northside College Prep) recorded a shutout in her first collegiate start, making one save. Macalester took 36 shots in the game compared to one for Lawrence.
The Scots open MIAC play with a game at Gustavus Adolphus on Tuesday, Sept. 13. Game time is scheduled for 4:00 p.m. in St. Peter, Minn.
