NEW LONDON, Conn. – The Macalester College water polo team closed out the Collegiate Water Polo Association Conference Tournament with a 12-2 victory over Utica on Sunday at the Jane Caldwell Lott Natatorium. The Scots improve to 4-20 on the season.
Macalester took control of the game by scoring the first four goals en route to a 10-1 lead. Sophomore
Hannah Gray (Pasadena, Calif./South Pasadena) and first year
Natalie Hoffman (Seattle, Wash./Inglemoor) scored two goals apiece in the first quarter, while senior
Zexin Nai (Singapore/Hwa Chong) had two goals in the third quarter. Senior
Emma Swanson (Ypsilanti, Mich./Ypsilanti) started the game in goal but came out from the cage in the second half to score two goals.
Gray finished with three goals and was named to the All-Tournament Team. Hoffman also scored three goals, while sophomore
Brooke Finney (Grand Rapids, Mich./Jenison) and first year
Lucille Moran (Ann Arbor, Mich./Huron) also found the net in the victory.
