MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – The Macalester College women's basketball team fell to Augsburg College, 60-45 in Wednesday evening MIAC action at Si Melby Hall. Down by four at the half, the Scots suffered a seven-point deficit in the third quarter and shot just over 20% from the field to give Augsburg an edge. Macalester drops to 8-16 overall and 3-14 in league play. The Auggies improve to 14-10 overall and 9-8 in the MIAC.

The first half was a well-fought battle, resulting in the first quarter ending with even scores at 11 points each. Quarter two showcased sharp shooting by Augsburg when they drained four three-point attempts and picked up a four-point lead.

The Scots struggled to secure rebounds and fell into foul trouble in the third quarter, allowing Augsburg to increase the lead. They dawned their largest lead of 20 at the 1:56 mark in the fourth quarter.

Regan Fruh (Helena, Mont./ Helena) and
Erin Murray (Sparta, Wis./ Sparta) led the way offensively, each scoring 13 points on the night. Murray grabbed six boards and Fruh pulled down five.

Vivi Gregorich (Boulder, Colo./ Boulder) and
Lauren Clamage (Lake Forest, Ill/ Lake Forest Academy) each dished out three assists. Gregorich added four steals.

Augsburg was led by senior Allison McKee with 19 points and seven rebounds.

The Scots will return to action for their final game on Saturday, Feb. 20 when they travel to Moorhead, Minn. to take on Concordia. Tipoff is scheduled for 3 p.m. following the men's game.
