Women's Basketball: Macalester Falls in Season Finale at Concordia

MOORHEAD, Minn. – The Macalester College women's basketball team fell to Concordia College, 86-47 in Saturday afternoon MIAC action at Memorial Auditorium. The Cobbers were lights out from the field, shooting 73% from beyond the arc and outscored the Scots by 10 or more in each quarter. With the loss, Macalester ends the season with an 8-17 overall record, a 3-15 mark in league play. Concordia improves to 17-8 overall and 13-5 in the MIAC.
 
In the first half, the Cobbers connected on 63% of field goal attempts to outscore Macalester 52 to 27. The Scots stepped up their defensive efforts in the third quarter, holding Concordia to just 14 points.
 
Junior guard Lauren Clamage (Lake Forest, Ill/ Lake Forest Academy) was a bright spot for the Scots. Clamage led the way with 17 points on five of nine shooting. Regan Fruh (Helena, Mont./ Helena), Erin Murray (Sparta, Wis./ Sparta) and Emilie McGuire (Park Ridge, Ill. / Maine Township South) each added seven points. Fruh pulled down a team-best eight boards.
 
Concordia was led in scoring by Greta Walsh with 17 points.
 
Seniors Erin Murray and Katelyn Kack (Minneota, Minn./ Minneota) wrapped up their four-year careers this evening. Murray competed in 98 games for the Scots and started in 83. She scored 792 career points and dished out 268 assists, collecting 88 assists this season which is the third most in the MIAC. Kack competed in 90 career games for the Scots and scored 203 points. She pulled down 144 rebounds and tallied 59 assists.
 
The Scots will return 12 players next season.
