WINONA, Minn. – The Macalester College women's soccer team went on the road and beat Saint Mary's University, 1-0 in a MIAC game Tuesday evening at Ochrymowycz Field. With the win, the Scots improve to 6-3-3 on the season, including a 2-3-2 mark in conference play. The Cardinals fall to 2-9-1, 0-7 MIAC.
In the 22nd minute, senior forward
Kara Komoto (Rice Lake, Wis./Rice Lake) scored an unassisted goal to break a scoreless tie. Macalester made the goal stand up, allowing four shots, including just two on goal, over the final 68 minutes of the game. The Scots registered an 11-5 advantage in shots for the game.
Junior goalkeeper
Emma Toomer (Leesburg, Va./Loudoun County) made three saves for the shutout, her second of the season. Gabriella Pederson recorded five saves for Saint Mary's.
Macalester returns home to face Carleton on Friday, Oct. 14 in another key MIAC game. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. at Macalester Stadium.
