Women's Basketball: Macalester earns MIAC win over St. Kate's, 64-55

ST. PAUL, Minn. -- The Macalester College women's basketball team traveled to the campus of St. Catherine University to take on the Wildcats in Saturday afternoon MIAC action. The Scots took a 12-8 lead in the first quarter and held onto the lead for the remaining 30 minutes. Macalester's win was sparked by 10 of 22 shooting from beyond the arc. 

With the win, Macalester improves to 6-6 overall and 2-4 in conference action. St. Kate's falls to 7-5 overall and 2-4 in the MIAC.

The Scots put forth a team effort offensively as four players finished in double-digit scoring. Leah Gray (San Rafael, Calif. / Branson School) led the way with 15 points on an impressive five of six shooting from three-point range and pulled down 11 rebounds to secure a double-double.

The sophomore duo of Vivi Gregorich (Boulder, Colo. / Boulder) and Regan Fruh (Helena, Mont. / Helena) each finished with 14 points. Gregorich knocked down all eight attempts from the line and dished out a team-high six assists. 

Junior guard Lauren Clamage (Lake Forest, Ill. / Lake Forest Academy) added 12 points on the night as she connected on three shots from beyond the arc. Clamage also recorded four steals in the win.

Park Masterson (Poway, Calif. / Poway) pulled down a team-high 12 rebounds.

St. Kate's was led by Audra Clark who finished with 15 points, five assists and five rebounds.

Macalester shot 36% from the field and 46% (10-22) from three-point range. The Wildcats connected on just one shot from beyond the arc. 

The Scots will return to action on Wednesday, Jan. 13 as they travel to Northfield, Minn. to take on St. Olaf College. Tipoff is slated for 7 p.m.
