MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – The Macalester College women's volleyball team took on North Central University this evening and defeated the Rams in straight sets to advance to 6-1 overall this season.
The Scots took down North Central with set scores of 25-14, 25-19 and 25-22. With a 6-1 start to the season, the 2015 Macalester volleyball team currently holds the most wins this season in the MIAC. They will begin conference play on Sept. 16 following non-conference tournament action this weekend.
North Central drops to 1-6 overall this season.
Macalester was led offensively by junior outside hitter,
Brooke Hunter (Stillwater, Minn./Stillwater). Â Hunter hit .444 in the match, collecting her nine kills in just 18 total attempts. Sophomore
Clara Baumann (Wausau, Wis./Wausau East) followed up with eight kills and added eight digs.
Senior libero
Cora Trout (Columbia, Mo./Rock Bridge) led the way defensively with 12 digs.
Hoai-Nam Bui (McLean, Va./Langley) added eight.
The Scots outplayed the Rams in nearly every category as they posted 36 total kills to North Central's 29 and shut down the net with eight blocks to NCU's zero.
Arianna Hesterberg (Kenmore, Wash./Inglemoor) dished out 21 assists.
Regan Fruh (Helena, Mont./Helena) served up four aces.
The Scots will return to action on Friday and Sunday, Sept. 11 and 13 as they host the ACM Tournament at Macalester's Leonard Center. View the complete tournament schedule,
