ST. PAUL, Minn. – Sophomore forward
Jaime Hasama (Rancho Palos Verdes, Calif./Palos Verdes Penninsula) scored the game's only goal to give the Macalester College women's soccer team a 1-0 victory over UW-Stevens Point Saturday afternoon at Macalester Stadium. The Scots' first goal of the season also resulted in their first victory, improving their record to 1-0-1.
In the 22nd minute, senior midfielder
Lydia Chodosh (Los Angeles Calif./Culver City) collected the ball in the middle of the field and sent a pass through to Hasama on the right. Hasama blasted a shot past Pointers' goalkeeper Kristen Churkey for a 1-0 lead. The goal was the first for Hasama as a collegian.
The Scots possessed the ball well for most of the match, taking 17 shots while holding UW-Stevens Point to one shot. Sophomores
Rachel Wilson-King (Tucson, Ariz./St. Gregory College Prep) and
Emma Toomer (Leesburg, Va./Loudoun County) split the goalkeeping duties, with Wilson-King making one save.
Macalester begins its Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference schedule on Sept. 15 against Gustavus Adolphus.
