ST. PAUL, Minn. – The Macalester College volleyball team competed in a pair of non-conference matches hosted by the University of Northwestern Wednesday evening. The Scots swept Crown College 3-0 and fell to the Eagles of UNW in straight sets to split on the day.
Macalester moves to 13-4 overall this season. Crown College falls to 4-9 overall and the University of Northwestern improves to 11-7 overall with the sweep of both teams today.
In Macalester's match-up versus Crown College, the Scots won with set scores of 25-13, 28-25 and 25-21.
India Medaris led the way offensively, collecting nine kills in the match. Medaris was followed by
Brooke Hunter who finished with seven and
Clara Baumann with five.
The Scots overpowered Crown on offense, putting down 41 kills to Crown's 27. The Scots hit .217 in the match to the opponents' .042.
Arianna Hesterberg dished out 33 assists.
Clara Baumann and
Cora Trout each collected 15 digs.
In the Scots' match-up with Northwestern, the Eagles grabbed the win in straight sets with scores of 25-16, 25-13 and 25-13.
Clara Baumann led the way with eight kills.
Kasey McMaster dished out 12 assists and
Cora Trout led with 17 digs.
Lindsey Peterson who collected 17 kills and 15 digs in the three-set match led Northwestern.
The Eagles overpowered Macalester, finishing with 42 kills to the Scots' 19.
Macalester will return to action on Friday, Oct. 2 as they travel to Northfield, Minn. and take on Carleton College in MIAC action.
