ST. PAUL, Minn. – The Macalester College women's soccer team played Hamline to a 1-1 double-overtime tie in a MIAC game Saturday afternoon at Paterson Field. The Scots are now 2-2-2 overall and 1-1-1 in league play, while the Pipers are 2-5-1, 0-2-1 MIAC.
After a scoreless first half, a foul was called on a Macalester player in the penalty area in the 55th minute. Hamline's Arendje Louter scored on the ensuing penalty kick to put the Pipers on top, 1-0. With time winding down in regulation, senior midfielder
Hannah Pollard-Garber (Rockville, Md./Thomas Sprigg Wootton) found the net in the 89th minute to tie the score at 1-1. The Scots took five shots in overtime and put three on goal, but the game ended in a 1-1 draw.
Sophomore goalkeeper
Rachel Wilson-King (Tucson, Ariz./St. Gregory College Prep) made one save for Macalester, while Anna Briscoe registered nine saves for the Pipers. The Scots outshot Hamline, 19-3 for the game.
The Scots continue MIAC play with a home game against St. Catherine on Wednesday, Sept. 30. The game starts at 7:30 p.m. at Macalester Stadium.
