ST. PAUL, Minn. -- The Macalester College volleyball team grabbed their first MIAC win of the season on Saturday as they defeated St. Olaf College in a five set battle. With the win, the Scots improve to 12-3 overall.
Macalester lost set one, 25-15 before coming back to win set two, 25-21. The Scots fell in set three, but finished off the match in sets four and five with set wins of 25-15 and 15-12. St. Olaf College fell to 8-10 overall and 0-3 in conference action following the loss.
Clara Baumann led the way offensively finishing with a season-high 23 kills in the match. Baumann also added 15 digs in the match.
India Medaris and
Brooke Hunter also finished with double-digit kill totals. Medaris finished with 16 kills and a .268 attack percentage, while Hunter added 10 kills.
Senior
Kasey McMaster dished out 38 assists in the match,
Cora Trout led the way with a season-high 50 digs.
Macalester will return to action on Sept. 30 as they compete in the Northwestern Triangular.
