NORTHFIELD, Minn. – Macalester volleyball started out the 2015 season on a high note by picking up two, straight-set victories over Martin Luther College and Bethany Lutheran at the St. Olaf Triangular.

The Scots begin the 2015 campaign with a 2-0 record for the first time since the 2010 season and are hoping to carry the momentum forward as they prepare for competition at the Austin College Tournament (Austin, Texas) taking place Sept. 4-5.

Annie Doman recapped the night stating, "We played with confidence tonight. We passed extremely well which helped us offensively. The team brough consistent energy both on and off the court."

In Macalester's first match of the night against Martin Luther, the Scots won 3-0 with set scores of (25-18, 25-20 and 25-20).Â
Clara Baumann (Wausau, Wis./Wausau East) picked up where she left off last season, leading the way offensively with 10 kills hitting from the outside.
India Medaris (Napa, Calif./Justin Siena) followed up with nine kills.

Arianna Hesterberg (Kenmore, Wash./Inglemoor) dished out 31 assists and senior, libero
Cora Trout (Columbia, Mo./Rock Bride) dug up a team-high 11 balls.

Macalester overpowered Martin Luther, collecting 41 kills to the Knights' 29.

In the Scots second match of the night against Bethany Lutheran, Macalester overcame a back-and-forth battle in set one to finally secure the win at 26-24. They closed out the match, winning sets two and three comfortably at 25-16 and 25-13 respectively.

The Scots forced Bethany Lutheran into 25 errors and a negative hitting percentage. Macalester posted 16 total blocks in the match led by
Regan Fruh (Helena, Mont./Helena) and Hesterberg with five apiece. Medaris led the way offensively with seven kills. Trout finished with a game-high 10 digs.
