ST. JOSEPH, Minn. – The Macalester College softball team took on the College of St. Benedict (15-13 overall, 4-5 MIAC) in Sunday afternoon MIAC action. The Scots came through with a big seventh inning to win 3-1. The second game of the day was tied up at four even when the game was called off due to weather. The two teams plan to finish the game but have yet to schedule an official date.
With today's win, Macalester improves to 17-11 overall and 5-6 in the MIAC.
Game One Recap: Macalester 3, St. Ben's 2 Both teams were held scoreless through four complete innings of play. It wasn't until the top of the fifth when
Miranda Stokes reached on an error by the St. Ben's first baseman, allowing
G.G. Gunther to score the first run of the game.
With a 1-0 lead heading into the bottom of the sixth, the Blazers were able to tie up the game on a sacrifice fly.

Miranda Stokes, to come through offensively for the Scots. Stokes hit a two-RBI double to score teammates
Anna Munson and Sasa Wilson to give Macalester a 3-1 advantage. They were able to hold St. Ben's scoreless in the bottom half of the inning to secure a victory.
Stokes started on the mound for the Scots, pitching seven complete innings and giving up just four hits and one run. She struck out five and walked zero to earn the win and improve her record to 8-5 this season.
Macalester finished with eight hits in the game; St. Ben's with three.
G.G. Gunther and
Hali Englert each went two for three at the plate. Gunther also recorded two stolen bases in the game.
Wilson, Stokes,
Abby Cox and
Nikki Caicedo each collected one hit, with Stokes leading the way with two RBI's.
