NEW LONDON, Conn. -- Macalester dropped a 12-1 decision to Washington and Jefferson in the morning but rebounded with an 8-6 win over Grove City on the second day of the Collegiate Water Polo Association East Round Robin tournament at Connecticut College.

Sarah Shoemaker cut the Presidents' lead to 3-1 with an advantage goal with 3:19 to play in the first half but W&J scored five times in the final three minutes of the second quarter to take an 8-1 lead and coast to the 11-goal win.

Anya Phillips made 10 saves in the game for the Scots.

In Macalester's evening match, Shoemaker scored two more goals, giving her 12 in five games on the weekend, while Hannah Gray scored three goals and Brooke Finney, Zexin Nai and Hannah Currens added single goals.

Phillips turned in a 14-save performance to backstop the Scots'  third win of the weekend and eighth of the season.
