RIVERSIDE, Calif. --Â Macalester drops its first two games of the season at the Lancer Invitational, hosted by California Baptist.
Sarah Shoemaker got the season started off for the Scots on a positive note, giving them a 1-0 lead over Concordia (Calif.) just one minute, 12 seconds into the game, but the Eagles responded with five unanswered goals to take a lead they would not relinquish en route to a 13-5 win.
Both Shoemaker and
Adrienne Burgin scored two goals apiece for Macalester.
Brooke Finney added the Scots' other goal, the first of her career.
Anya Phillips made 12 saves and had 10 stolen balls.
In its second game of the day, Macalester drop a 14-2 decision to Chapman as Burgin scored two more goals, recorded four stolen balls and earned three ejections, giving her five on the day.
Phillips recorded eight saves in the game and four stolen balls.
The Scots wrap up tournament play Saturday, taking on tournament-host California Baptist at 10:15 a.m. PDT, before facing Redlands at 3 p.m.
