WINONA, Minn. – The Macalester College women's basketball team traveled to Saint Mary's University for a Saturday afternoon MIAC match-up. The Cardinals took an early lead, going up five in the first quarter. The Scots stayed in it, trailing by just six at the half before falling in final scoring 67-52.

Macalester falls to 5-3 overall and 1-1 in the MIAC. Saint Mary's improves to 6-0 overall and 2-0 in conference action.

The Cardinals capitalized on free throw opportunities, making fifteen shots from the line to Macalester's three and won the rebounding battle, 55 to 37.

Senior
Erin Murray (Sparta, Wis. / Sparta) and junior
Lauren Clamage (Lake Forest, Ill. / Lake Forest Academy) each finished with 11 points for the Scots. Murray dished out five assists and pulled down five rebounds. Murray leads the MIAC in total assists this season with 35. Clamage hit three of six shots from beyond the arc.

Vivi Gregorich (Boulder, Colo. / Boulder) added 10 points and three assists on the day.

Regan Fruh (Helena, Mont. / Helena) and
Leah Gray (San Rafael, Calif. / Branson School) each grabbed a team-best six rebounds.

Saint Mary's was led by Bridget Pethke with 14 points, seven rebounds and three assists.

Macalester will return to action on Wednesday, December 9 as they host the University of St. Thomas at the Leonard Center. Tipoff is slated for 7 p.m.
