ST. PAUL, Minn. – The Macalester College women's basketball team competed at the University of Northwestern in Tuesday night non-conference action. After putting together an impressive second half, Macalester took a one-point lead with two minutes to play, but fell to the Eagles in the final minute (59-57).

With the loss, the Scots fall to 2-2 overall this season. Northwestern improves to 3-2 overall.

After a slow start in first quarter action, Macalester picked up the pace offensively to outscore the Eagles in both the second and third quarters. Three lead changes and two tied scores occurred in the fourth quarter as both teams battled to the final buzzer. With 2:57 to play, senior guard
Erin Murray capitalized on a fast break layup to give the Scots' a one-point lead. Northwestern took advantage of late free throw opportunities to regain the lead and hold on to a two-point win.

Regan Fruh (Helena, Mont. / Helena) was dominant on the offensive end, making nine of 11 shots from the field and pulling down 12 rebounds to mark her second double-double this season.

Leah Gray (San Rafael, Calif. / Branson School) added 14 points on the night after knocking down four shots from beyond the arc. Gray also added eight rebounds and two blocks in the contest.

Vivi Gregorich (Boulder, Colo. / Boulder),
Erin Murray (Sparta, Wis. / Sparta) and
Park Masterson (Poway, Calif. / Poway) each dished out four assists.

The Scots outshot the Eagles in field goal percentages but struggled from the line, connecting on just three of 13. Northwestern made eight of 12 attempts.

Macalester will return to action on Saturday, Nov. 28 as they travel to St. Bonifacius to compete against Crown College. Tip-off is slated for 3 p.m.
