ST. PAUL, Minn. – Sophomore forward
Jaime Hasama (Rancho Palos Verdes, Calif./Peninsula) tallied all three goals as the Macalester College women's soccer team defeated UW-Superior, 3-0 in a non-conference game Wednesday evening at Macalester Stadium. The Scots are now 4-2-3 on the season, while the Yellowjackets drop to 2-7.
Macalester struck first in the 35th minute, when Hasama got on the end of a long pass up the middle from sophomore midfielder
Kelsey Porter (St. Paul, Minn./Roseville) and beat goalkeeper Alexandra Paige for a 1-0 lead. Then in the second half, Hasama stole the ball from a UW-Superior player, dribbled in and scored in the 67th minute. She completed the hat trick three minutes later, as a pass from senior midfielder
Lydia Chodosh (Los Angeles, Calif./Culver City) sprung Hasama in alone on Paige. Hasama dribbled around Paige and shot the ball into the empty net for her fifth goal of the season.
The Scots dominated play, taking 32 shots while allowing just one shot from UW-Superior. Sophomore goalkeepers
Rachel Wilson-King (Tucson, Ariz./St. Gregory College Prep) and
Emma Toomer (Leesburg, Va./Loudon County), and first year
Rachel Stromsta (Chicago, Ill./Northside College Prep) shared the goalkeeping duties for Macalester. Paige recorded nine saves for the Yellowjackets, all in the first half.
Macalester plays an MIAC game at St. Thomas on Saturday, Oct. 10, beginning at 3:30 p.m. in St. Paul, Minn.
