Women’s Soccer: Macalester Ties St. Thomas, 1-1

ST. PAUL, Minn. – The Macalester College women's soccer team played St. Thomas to a 1-1 draw in a MIAC contest Saturday afternoon at South Field. The result gives the Scots a 4-2-4 record on the season, including a 2-1-3 mark in league play. The Tommies are now 6-4-1, 4-1-1 MIAC.

Macalester opened the scoring in the 21st minute, when senior forward Hannah Pollard-Garber (Rockville, Md./Thomas Sprigg Wootton) received a long pass from junior midfielder Rae Hohle (Aurora, Ill./Illinois Math & Science Academy) and scored for a 1-0 lead. The Scots held off St. Thomas until the 86th minute, when Kari Solheim knocked in a loose ball in a scramble in front of the goal to tie the score at 1-1. Neither team scored through both overtime periods as the game ended in a tie.

Sophomore goalkeeper Rachel Wilson-King (Tuscon, Ariz/St. Gregory College Prep) made five saves in goal for Macalester, including two in the second overtime period. Tarynn Theilig recorded four saves for the Tommies.

The Scots continue MIAC play with a home game against St. Mary's on Tuesday, Oct. 13. Game time is set for 7:30 p.m. at Macalester Stadium.
