ST. PAUL, Minn. – The Macalester College women's soccer team played St. Olaf College to a 1-1 tie in a MIAC game Saturday afternoon at Macalester Stadium. The Scots are now 3-2-3 overall and 2-1-2 in the conference, while the Oles are 2-4-4, 2-2-1 MIAC.
The game was scoreless until the 44th minute, when sophomore forward
Jaime Hasama (Rancho Palos Verdes, Calif./Peninsula) found the net from 20 yards out for a 1-0 Scots lead. In the 65th minute, St. Olaf pulled even when Madison Van Wylen deflected a corner kick from Kajsa Brindley into the goal.
Both teams had golden chances to score in the second overtime period, as both Emily Sierakowski and Hasama broke in behind the defense. But their shots were not accurate, and the game ended in a 1-1 tie.
Sophomore goalkeeper
Emma Toomer (Leesburg, Va./Loudon County) played the second half and in both overtime periods and recorded three saves for Macalester. St. Olaf's Ruth Hesse registered six saves, as the Scots outshot the Oles, 13-10.
Macalester hosts UW-Superior in a non-conference game on Wednesday, Oct. 7, beginning at 7:30 p.m. at Macalester Stadium.
