ST. PAUL, Minn. -- The Macalester College volleyball team hosted Saint Mary's University in a Saturday afternoon MIAC match-up. After taking down the Cardinals in the first two sets (25-22 and 25-22), they fell in the next three straight (25-22, 25-15, 15-12) to be retired in five.
Macalester drops to 14-13 overall and 1-8 in conference action. Saint Mary's University improves to 18-8 overall and 8-2 in the MIAC.
Clara Baumann led the Scots offensively with a match-high 22 kills. Baumann added two aces and 17 digs to her stat line.
Arianna Hesterberg, the MIAC leader in total aces, added six more to her season total. Hesterberg dished out 38 assists in the five sets.
Cora Trout led Macalester defensively with 21 digs.
Saint Mary's was led by Macki Fadness with 15 kills. The Scots finished with 52 kills in the match, the Cardinals posted 61.
Today's contest marked the Scots final home match this season. They will continue action on Oct. 28 when they compete at Bethel University. The first serve is scheduled for 7 p.m.
