ST. PAUL, Minn. -- The Macalester College volleyball team competed at Hamline University Saturday afternoon for a MIAC match-up. The Scots fell to the Pipers in three close sets, dropping to 13-7 overall and 1-5 in conference this season.
With the win, Hamline improves to 9-10 overall and 2-4 in the MIAC. Gustavus Adolphus sits on top of the conference standings, holding a 6-0 record this season (18-2 overall).
Each set was a battle in today's contest as Macaclester held off match points twice in the final set. Statistically, the Scots recorded just two kills less than Hamline (43) in the match.
Clara Baumann led the way offensively, recording 17 kills and hitting .297.Baumann matched her offensive efforts on the defensive side, picking up 17 digs.
India Medaris recorded 10 kills in the match.
Kasey McMaster dished out 24 assists for the Scots.
Shayna Prochovnick picked up 10 digs.
Hamline was led by Julia Zolnosky with 10 kills.
Macalester will return to action on Wednesday, Oct. 14 when they travel to St. Peter, Minn. to take on MIAC standings leader, Gustavus Adolphus.
