ST. PAUL, Minn. -- The Macalester College women's basketball team played host to Concordia College in a Monday evening interleague contest at Alumni Gymnasium. The Scots battled hard against a solid Concordia team, trailing by just three at the half. Concordia shot 52% from the field in the second half to secure a 73-56 victory over Macalester.
With the loss, the Scots fall to 2-8 overall and 0-4 in the MIAC. Concordia College improves to 7-4 overall and 3-1 in conference action.
The Scots started off strong as junior
Erin Murray drained a three-pointer just 20 seconds into the game. Murray would continue her hot streak as she led the Scots with a team-high 17 points, knocking down three of seven shots from beyond the arc.
Freshman center
Regan Fruh finished with 14 points on the night, shooting four of eight from the field and six of eight from the charity stripe. Fruh pulled down a team-high eight rebounds.
The Scots forced Concordia into 18 turnovers and committed just 16 themselves. Macalester fell four boards short on the rebounding battle, 36-32.
Alley Fisher led the Cobbers scoring 29 points on eight of 12 shooting from the field. Fisher knocked down five of six shots from three-point range.
Macalester will return to action on Wednesday, Jan. 7 as they host the University of St. Thomas at 7 p.m. in Alumni Gymnasium.
