ST. PAUL, Minn. -- The Macalester College women's basketball team hosted the University of St. Thomas in Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play Wednesday evening. The Tommies, who are ranked #5 in the nation in this week's polls, shot 53.3% from the field and scored 40 points in the first half to overpower the Scots in the first 20 minutes of play. Undefeated St. Thomas defeated Macalester 69-30 in final scoring.
The Scots fall to 2-9 overall and 0-5 in the MIAC. The University of St. Thomas improves to 12-0 overall and 5-0 in conference action.

Regan Fruh pulled down a team-high five rebounds.
St. Thomas was led by the post duo of Maggie Weiers and Alyssa Favilla. Weiers posted a double-double with 11 boards and 12 points, while Favilla added 14 points on seven of 12 shooting.
Macalester will return to action on Saturday, Jan. 10 as they make the short trip to St. Catherine University for a 3 p.m. MIAC match-up.
