ST. PAUL, Minn. -- Macalester won three individual events and a relay but Grinnell's depth was too much to overcome as the Pioneers posted a 170-78 dual meet win.The Halvorson sisters accounted for the Scots' two swimming victories.
Alese Halvorson won the 50-yard freestyle in 25.82 seconds, beating out four Grinell swimmers who finished within 0.90 of her her winning times.
Mara Halvorson was the only Scot entered in the 200 individual medley, which she won in a time of 2:36.95
Molly Lloyd added a win in the three-meter diving competition with a score of 184.85.
Macalester also won the 200 freestyle relay with
Alese Halvorson anchoring the quartet of herself,
Hannah Bonestroo,
Maggie Joyce and
Kaia Lund in a time of 1:46.35.
The Scots will take next weekend off in preparations for the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Invitational as a prelude to the MIAC Championships. The Conference Invitational is slated for Feb. 6-7 and will be hosted by St. Thomas.
