ST. PAUL, Minn. – Macalester women's basketball missed 13 free throws and shot just 20% in the first half as Carleton grabbed a 63-52 win in MIAC play this afternoon.
The Scots had a rough start, allowing the Knights to jump out to an 11-0 lead to start the game before
Regan Fruh connected on a layup at the 13:17 mark.
Macalester ended the half down 11, but Carleton would extend the lead to 19 (their largest of the game) early into the second after starting the half with an 8-0 run.
The Scots battled back led by
Vivi Gregorich who scored 20 points in the second half alone on seven of eight shooting from the field. Gregorich hit four shots from beyond the arc and ended the night with a career-high 21 points.
Regan Fruh finished with 11 points for the Scots and a team-high 10 rebounds to mark her first double-double this season.
Park Masterson added nine points and nine rebounds.
Erin Murray led the Scots with seven assists.
Skylar Tsutsui who finished with 18 points led Carleton.
The Scots fall to 3-14 overall and 0-10 in the MIAC. Carleton improves to 6-11 this season and 4-6 in conference play.
Macalester will return to action on Wednesday, Jan. 28 as they travel to Northfield, Minn. to take on St. Olaf at 5:45 p.m.
