Women's Soccer: Macalester falls to second-half surge

Foresters control second half to claim 2-0 win from Scots.

Box Score ST. PAUL, Minn. -- Macalester and Lake Forest played even for 55 minutes but two goals in the game's final 35 minutes were the downfall of the Scots' first loss of the season, a 2-0 defeat at the hands of the Foresters.

The home team had an 9-8 edge in shots on goal in the first half, including a 5-3 margin in shots on goal, but the visitors took control in the second half.

Lake Forest finally broke the scoreless tie with 34 minutes, 35 seconds to play in the game when Michelle Greeneway scored her sixth goal in four games on the season.

The Foresters added an insurance goal with 7:54 to play when Kayla Wuest settled a ball at the top of the crease and shot home her first goal of the season off of the left post.

Emma Toomer made six saves for the Scots, who were outshot 10-4 in the second half and 18-13 for the game.

Macalester takes to the road for the first time in 2014 next weekend when the Scots travel to Decorah, Iowa, to face Luther College at 2 p.m.
