Box Score 2 Macalester took on longtime MIAC power and No. 20-ranked St. Thomas Wednesday at UST and came away with 6-0 and 8-0 defeats to the Tommies. The Scots drop to 15-9 on the season and 5-3 in the MIAC, while St. Thomas improves to 21-5 on the season, 9-1 in the league.
Most of the action in the opener came in the bottom of the fourth inning when the Tommies plated four runs. On the game, UST pitchers allowed just one Macalester hit – a
Brittany Ehmann (Jr., Island Lake, Ill. / Wauconda) single in the fifth which helped Mac score when
Erin Slater (Jr., Federal Way, Wash. / Decatur) reached on a fielder's choice. Ehmann and
Miranda Stokes (Jr., Perry, Utah / Box Elder) had solid pitching performances for the Scots.
Game two was stopped in the sixth inning when UST scored three times to win by the 10-run rule. Collecting hits for Macalester were
Abby Cox (So., Fort Worth, Tex. / Fort Worth Country Day) and
Nikki Caicedo (Fy., Clinton Township, Mich. / Chippewa Valley).
The Scots host Hamline on Saturday (April 12) for Senior Day.
