Softball: Macalester gains split with Carleton

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2
After dropping game one 8-1 to snap a six-game winning streak, Macalester salvaged a split with visiting Carleton by taking the nightcap 6-3 Sunday in a pair of games played on the Macalester Stadium field due to wet field conditions on Mac's regular softball field.  The Scots are now 15-7 overall and 5-1 in the early-season MIAC standings.

Carleton held Macalester to just three hits in the opening game and the home team scored only one time, that coming in the fifth inning when Erin Slater scored on a Saraswati Wilson (Jr., Olathe, Kan. / Northwest) ground out RBI.

Game two was a much stronger effort for the Scots, who led 6-1 after plating three runs in the second and three more in the third.  Miranda Stokes (Jr., Perry, Utah / Box Elder) was strong in the circle, allowing the Knights six hits and three runs in seven innings of pitching duty.  She and teammate Brittany Ehmann (Jr., Island Lake, Ill. / Wauconda) each collected two hits and Hali Englert (Jr., Castle Rock, Colo. / Castle View) smacked her first career home run at Mac and finished with three runs batted in.

On Wednesday (April 9), the Scots play an MIAC twinbill at St. Thomas.
