Macalester hosted the Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) Division III conference tournament and won one of its three games. On Saturday, the Scots opened tournament play with an 11-8 victory over Grove City (Pa.) before falling to eventual tourney champion Connecticut College 14-3.
The Scots played Carthage (Wis.) Sunday in the third-place game and lost a heartbreaker, falling 8-7 in the sixth three-minute overtime session.
Two Scots were named to the seven-player all-tournament first team:
Adrienne Burgin (Jr., Walnut Creek, Calif. / Acalanes) and
Anya Phillips (Jr., Geneva, Fla. / Oviedo). Burgin netted two goals in Mac's win over Grove City. Goalie Phillips had seven saves and four assists in that win.
Macalester finishes the 2014 season with a 9-13 overall record.
