Macalester extended its early-season winning streak to five games by sweeping Minnesota Morris at the Vadnais Sports Complex in Vadnais Heights. The Scots racked up eight-run wins and received standout starting pitching from
Alisha Barritt (Sr., Oklahoma City, Okla. / Oklahoma School of Science & Math) and
Brittany Ehmann (Jr., Island Lake, Ill. / Wauconda) to takes the games by scores of 9-0 in six innings and 12-1 in five.
With their fourth and fifth straight wins in area domes, the Scots boost their slate to 5-0. These were UMM's first games of the campaign.
Barritt allowed just three hits for her game one shutout.
Saraswati Wilson (Jr., Olathe, Kan. / Northwest) went 3-for-4 with three runs scored, and
Nikki Caicedo (Fy., Clinton Township, Mich. / Chippewa Valley) went 3-for-3 to lead the attack. Three other registered a pair of hits. Macalester put things away with four fifth-inning runs and three sixth-inning tallies. Wilson had two doubles in the game and Ehmann homered.
Ehmann was just as dominant in the circle in game two, striking out six batters and allowing just five hits. Supporting her cause with two hits apiece were Wilson,
Miranda Stokes (Jr., Perry, Utah / Box Elder), Ehmann herself, Caicedo and
Hali Englert (Jr., Castle Rock, Colo. / Castle View). Stokes had two of her team's five doubles.
Through six games, the Scots are hitting .406 and their pitchers have compiled am 0.83 earned run average. They are off until playing 10 games over Spring Break March 16-21 in Clermont, Florida.
