Macalester bounced back from a 6-0 defeat in the opener to Cornell College to win the nightcap 4-0 behind strong pitching from starter Dylan Edwards-Gaherty (Fy., New York, N.Y. / American Studies) and reliever Brendan O'Connor (Fy., Piedmont, Calif. ) to gain a non-conference split in Mount Vernon, Iowa.  The Scots are now 5-9 on the season.

In Macalester's win, Edwards-Gaherty pitched the first five innings, allowing just three hits and striking out six.  O'Connor threw the final two innings and didn't give up a hit.  The Scots played three fourth-inning runs.  Tom Forster (Jr., Stillwater, Minn.) went 3-for-3 to boost his batting average on the season to .545, while added a couple hits each were Phillip Stuhr (So., Onalaska, Wis.) and Sam Berk (So., Miami, Fla. / Palmer Trinity School).

Cornell held the Scots to three hits in the opener.  Macalester received 3 2/3 strong relief innings from Joseph Aulisi (Fy., McLean, Va. / Langley).

The Scots return to the field Wednesday (April 2) at St. Thomas.
