Softball: Mac posts 3-5 record in Florida

Macalester went 3-5 in warm Florida over Spring Break at the Dot Richardson Games in Clermont.  The Scots gained victories over Worcester State (Mass.), Bethany (W.Va.) and Elmhust (Ill.), but were defeated by Oswego State (N.Y.), William Paterson (N.J.), Western Connecticut State, Framingham State (Mass.) and defending NCAA Division III champion Tufts (Mass.).

The Scots are now 8-6 on the season and will return to action this weekend.

Macalester's leading hitter over the trip was Abby Cox (So., Fort Worth, Tex. / Fort Worth Country Day), who was 9-for-23 for a .391 batting average.  Saraswati Wilson (Jr., Olathe, Kan. / Northwest) hit .346 and Nikki Caicedo (Fy., Clinton Township, Mich. / Chippewa Valley) also hit over .300 by posting a .333 mark.  Cleo Nagy (Sr., Eugene, Ore. / Henry D. Sheldon) led Mac with six runs driven it and Cox led the team with three steals.

Pitching-wise, the team was led by Brittany Ehmann (Jr., Island Lake, Ill. / Wauconda) with a 4.00 ERA and Miranda Stokes (Jr., Perry, Utah / Box Elder) with an ERA of 4.50.
