One night after starting the season with a split at the Auggie Dome, the Scots returned to Augsburg College Friday night for another doubleheader, this time with Bethany Lutheran College. The Scots held the Vikings to just four total hits, three in the opener and one in the nightcap, to gain a pair of five-inning victories. Game scores were 14-3 and 11-0 and ended after five frames due to the NCAA eight-run rule. The Scots are now 3-1 on the young season.
Macalester plated four runs in the first two innings in game one and on the game pounded out 15 hits in 29 at-bats, including home runs from
Saraswati Wilson (Jr., Olathe, Kan. / Olathe Northwest) and
Miranda Stokes (Jr., Perry, Utah / Box Elder). Stokes also had a double and went 4-for-4 with four runs driven in. Wilson and
Cleo Nagy each went 3-for-3.
Alisha Barritt (Sr., Oklahoma City, Okla. / Oklahoma School of Science & Math) pitched the first three innings to gain the win, striking out five batters, and Stokes worked the final two frames.
The Scots collected another 14 hits in game two and received a one-hit shutout pitching performance from
Brittany Ehmann (Jr., Island Lake, Ill. / Wauconda). Stokes went 3-for-3 with six RBI, and led off a decisive eight-run rally in the bottom of the third inning with a home run. Nagy also delivered three hits.
Macalester plays Minnesota-Morris on Wednesday (March 5) at the Vadnais Dome in Vadnais Heights at 1 p.m.
Through four games, Mac is batting .393 and the team has posted a 1.17 earned run average.
