­ST. PAUL, Minn. – The Macalester College women's basketball team opened up Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play Wednesday night on their home court at Alumni Gymnasium. The Scots fell to St. Olaf College, 65-45.
 
Macalester drops to 2-5 overall in the 2014-15 season and 0-1 in the MIAC. St. Olaf improves to 4-4 overall and 1-0 in conference action.
 
St. Olaf secured the lead on the first bucket of the game and never lost it. At the half, Macalester trailed by 14, having scored just 22 points in the first 20 minutes. The Oles' largest lead of 26 points came at the 5:15 mark in the second half.
 
Lauren Clamage led the Scots offensively with 15 points on the night. Clamage hit two of five shots from beyond the arc and knocked down a perfect five of five shots at the line.
 
Park Masterson added 14 points and a team-high eight rebounds.
 
Macalester lost the battle of the boards, as they were outrebounded 49-32. This deficit allowed St. Olaf to secure 12 second-chance points. The Oles scored 20 points off of turnovers.
 
The Scots will continue MIAC play on Saturday, Dec. 6 as they travel to Carleton College for a 1 p.m. tipoff.
