ST. PAUL, Minn. – The Macalester College volleyball team matched-up against Hamline University in a Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) contest this evening in the Leonard Center. Hamline overpowered the Scots, ending the match in three sets with final scores of 25-16, 25-23 and 25-20.
Macalester falls to 8-13 this season and are now 0-5 in the MIAC. Hamline improves to 12-3 on the year and now holds a 4-1 record in conference play.
Sophomore outside hitter,
Brooke Hunter, finished just shy of a double as she collected nine kills and 12 digs on the night. Hunter hit .269 in the match.
Freshman
Clara Baumann finished with seven kills on the night and also added 12 digs.
Arianna Hesterberg led the team with 14 assists.
Samantha Bongiorno added 12.
Junior libero,
Cora Trout, led the team defensively with 14 digs.
Hamline's offensive efforts were led by Katie Ayres who finished with 15 kills and a .344 hitting percentage. The Pipers hit .242 as a team to the Scots' .189.
Macalester will return to action on Friday, Oct. 10 as they host Gustavus Adolphus in a 7 p.m. MIAC match-up.
