ST. PAUL, Minn. – The Macalester College volleyball team took the court at Alumni Gymnasium in the Leonard Center this evening in their final home match of the 2014 season. The Scots fell to the Cobbers in three sets with set scores of 25-13, 25-19 and 25-11.
Macalester drops to 8-19 overall this season and are now 0-10 in Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play. Concordia College improves to 12-11 overall and 5-5 in the MIAC.
Freshmen hitters
Clara Baumann and
Regan Fruh led the offensive attack for Macalester collecting six and five kills apiece. Baumann also added in a team-high 11 digs for the Scots.
Hoai-Nam Bui finished with six.
Setter
Arianna Hesterberg tallied 11 assists in the match.
The Cobbers were led by Kynndyl Ross with nine kills and a .500 hitting percentage.
Concordia hit .380 in the match to the Scots' .078 percentage.
Macalester will return to action for their final match of the 2014 season on Saturday, Nov. 1 as they travel to Augsburg College to take on the Auggies in an 11 a.m. MIAC match-up. Saturday's contest can be followed online via live video and stats.
