MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – The Macalester College volleyball team traveled to Minneapolis today for an 11 a.m. match-up against #22 ranked Augsburg College. The Scots fell to the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference leader, but were able to take a set away. The Scots fell in four with scores of 25-16, 22-25, 25-9 and 25-13.
Today's match marks the conclusion of the 2014 season for Macalester. They finish with an overall record of 8-20 and a 0-11 finish in the MIAC.
Augsburg wraps up their regular season play with a 22-4 overall mark and a 10-1 finish in the MIAC.
Clara Baumann led the way for Macalester finishing with eight kills and nine digs. Baumann completes her freshman year as the Scots' top offensive player, totaling 212 kills and averaging 2.3 per set.
Brooke Hunter added seven kills in the match and also a team-high 16 digs.
Hoai-Nam Bui added 13 digs.
Arianna Hesterberg dished out 23 assists. The Scots hit just .073 in the match, but recorded 13 kills in 24 total attempts for a .265 hitting percentage in their second set victory.
Ashley Peper led Augsburg with 16 kills, nine digs and four blocks.
