Women’s Soccer: Scots play to draw in opener

Box Score
Macalester went out to a 2-0 halftime lead in its 2013 season opener at Wisconsin-Stevens Point, and held on for a 2-2 double overtime tie with the Pointers.

Coming off a 10-6-1 season, the Scots played a solid match to start the year.  Lily Jilk (So., River Falls, Wis. / Shattuck-St. Mary's) put Macalester on top with the game's initial score at 22:51 off a corner kick assist from Georgia Cloepfil (Sr., Portland, Ore. / Lincoln), and at 31:38, Cloepfil made it 2-0 by converting a pass from Lydia Chodosh (So., Los Angeles, Calif. / Culver City).

The Pointers forced overtime by scoring at 62:32 and 63:48.

UWSP finished with a slight 23-19 lead in shots.  Both teams registered eight goalkeeper saves.  Cloepfil accounted for four of Macalester's 10 tries on net, while Chodosh had three.  Macalester led 10-6 in corner kicks.

Macalester's schedule does not get any easier as the Scots return to the pitch Saturday (Sept. 7) at home against No. 3-ranked Wheaton (Ill.) at 7 p.m.
