Charlie Spurr (Fy., Seattle, Wash. / Roosevelt) produced his first Macalester goal with less than five minutes left in the second half, scoring on a Robert Tomecek (Fy., Lisle, Ill. / Benet Academy) assist, and the Scots played another stellar defensive game to gain a hard-fought 1-0 MIAC victory at Hamline.

With four shutouts over their past five games (allowing just a single score over this span), the Scots improve to 4-3-1 overall and 1-0-1 in the MIAC after starting the conference season with a tie against St. Thomas.

Macalester had three shots on goal before scoring on the last, getting two tries on net from Will Matsuda (Jr., Portland, Ore. / Woodrow Wilson).  HU led 9-8 in overall shots and Mac led 6-4 in corner kicks.

While sacrificing just a single goal over their last five matches, the Scots return to competition Tuesday (Sept. 24) with a home non-conference game with Dubuque (Ia.) at 7:30 p.m.
