Miranda Stokes (So., Perry, Utah / Box Elder) kept St. Mary's off the board over the final five innings of the second game to give the Scots a split with the Cardinals in Winona. St. Mary's easily took the opener 9-1 in five innings, but the Scots responded with a big 4-2 triumph in game two.
While Stokes was mowing down the Cards,
Saraswati Wilson (So., Olathe, Kan. / Northwest) was leading the attack, going 3-for-4 with a pair of doubles and raising her team-leading batting average to .408.
Abby Cox (Fy., Fort Worth, Tex. / Fort Worth Country Day) connected for a seventh-inning insurance solo homer to make the score 4-2. She also drove in a first inning run to give the Scots a quick 2-0 lead.
Mac went up 3-1 in the top of the second when
Anna Munson (So., La Crosse, Wis. / Central) drove in
Courtney Nussbaumer (Sr., Brookfield, Wis. / East) with a single to right field.
In the opener,
Erin Slater (So., Federal Way, Wash. / Decatur) went 2-for-2 and
Cleo Nagy (Jr., Eugene, Ore. / Henry D. Sheldon) drove in pinch-runner
Tara Cayton (So., Pleasanton, Calif. / Amador Valley) for the team's lone run.
St. Mary's is now 17-12 on the year and 10-8 in the MIAC.
The Scots host St. Olaf Monday (April 29) at 4 p.m.
