Softball: Scots suffer losses to Cobbers

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2
After losing the opening game 9-5, Macalester appeared ready to gain an MIAC split with Concordia-Moorhead, leading 2-0 before the Cobbers plated four runs in the top of the sixth inning and picking up the sweep with a 4-2 triumph.

Miranda Stokes (So., Perry, Utah / Box Elder) pitched well in the nightcap, allowing no runs and just two hits until Concordia's game-winning rally in the sixth.  The Scots tallied single runs in the third and fifth innings, stealing home on the back end of a double steal for their first run and making it 2-0 when Abby Cox (Fy., Fort Worth, Tex. / Fort Worth Country Day) singled, stole second, and scored on a Cleo Nagy (Jr., Eugene, Ore. / Henry D. Sheldon) RBI single.

In Saturday's first game, Concordia led 4-2 after six innings of play.  The Cobbers added five runs to their lead in the top of the seventh to go up 9-2.

Concordia pitchers held the Scots to 12 hits on the day.  Leading the cause for Macalester was Stokes, who was 4-for-7 on the day.

The Scots play Sunday (April 28) at St. Mary's and Monday (April 29) at home against St. Olaf.
