Macalester split its two matches all three days to finish 3-3 Friday-Sunday at the College Water Polo Association (CWPA) Tournament at Penn State-Behrend in Erie. The Scots gained decisions over Utica (N.Y.), Penn State-Behrend and Carthage (Wis.), but fell to Washington & Jefferson (Pa.), Grove City (Pa.) and Connecticut College. The defeats to Grove City (8-11) and Connecticut (7-10) were in close games.
In Mac's 11-5 victory over Utica in the team's first win of the year, the Scots picked up five goals from
Sarah Shoemaker (So., Saratoga, Calif. / St. Francis) and three from
Rachel Harrington-Abrams (Jr., Berkeley, Calif.).
Leading the way in the team's 14-4 triumph over Penn State-Behrend, Macalester received four goals apiece from Shoemaker and Kaulas.
Adrienne Burgin (So., Walnut Creek, Calif. / Acalanes) netted five goals to lead Macalester past Carthage.
Over the six-game tourney, the Scots were paced by Shoemaker with 16 goals, Burgin with 15 and Harrington-Abrams with 12.
