Macalester's 2013 softball season got started late Friday night with a doubleheader against Bethany Lutheran at the Augsburg College Dome in Minneapolis.  Bethany Lutheran held the Scots to three runs in each of the games to earn a 10-3 and 5-3 sweep.

The Scots led the opener 3-1 before Bethany Lutheran rallied for five runs in the top of the fifth inning and another three in the six with the help some Mac defensive miscues.  In the nightcap, BLC led 3-2 before plating single runs in each of the third and fourth innings to open up its advantage.

Mac's top hitter on the doubleheader was Saraswati Wilson (So., Olathe, Kan. / Northwest) with three hits, including a double.  Collecting two hits each were Anna Munson (So., La Crosse, Wis. / Central), Alisha Barritt (Jr., Oklahoma City, Okla. / Bethany), Courtney Nussbaumer (Sr., Brookfield, Wis. / East) and Cleo Nagy (Jr., Eugene, Ore. / Henry D. Sheldon).

The Scots will look to get into the win column when they play a twinbill Monday (March 4) against Minnesota-Morris at the Vadnais Height Dome at 1 p.m.
