The Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) women's soccer playoff championship match set for Saturday (Nov. 9) between No. 2-seeded Macalester and No. 1-seed St. Benedict has been pushed back an hour from 11 a.m. to 12 noon. The match will be played at Haws Field on the campus of St. John's University.
The winner of Saturday's contest receives the MIAC's automatic bid to the upcoming NCAA Division III playoffs. Macalester comes in at 13-4-1 after rolling past St. Olaf 5-0 in the semi-finals, while St. Ben's is 15-2-1 after defeating Concordia-Moorhead 2-1.
This is fifth trip to the MIAC finals for the Scots, who last went in 2009 when they fell to Carleton. Macalester won it all in 2004 and 2005 and is 6-4-2 all-time in the conference tourney.
Ticket prices are $7 for adults and $3 for students.
Macalester won 1-0 when these two teams hooked up Oct. 2 in St. Joseph, scoring in the first minute of the second half and holding off the Blazers. The rainy day featured a 56-minute first half delay due to lightning.
